With summer right around the corner, we’re opening up the space to the public for exclusive one and two day events exploring programming, robotics, and emerging technology. If you’ve even been interested in 3D printing, or wanted a crash-course in how to program, or maybe you just want to brush up on your skills, you should check these classes out.
Create Art with Code (Learn to Program)
Saturday, May 21st. 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Programming is not only a skill, but art form and a way of thinking that’s mastered through experimentation. Students will learn the fundamental concepts behind computer programming on their way to creating digital art and software toys in this six hour course. Students will write their own programs, as well as sample and alter pre-existing code.
3D Printing Primer
Friday, April 29th. 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM
This demo shows students the basics of 3D printing. The instructor will review how 3D printers work and demonstrate the 3-axis movement of the 3D printer. Students will be able to see a 3D printer operate, understand how it works, and have the ability to produce small plastic objects on their own device. Students will also understand where the future of 3D printing is headed, and the potential opportunities for future careers if they continue exploring desktop manufacturing.
Build a Robot with Mousebot
Monday, June 13th & 14th. 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Students will learn the basics of electrical engineering, soldering, and robotics in this course. Students will have the ability to build a circuit on a breadboard, solder it, and create their own autonomous robot using the MouseBot kit. Students will also understand the basics of neuroscience behind robots.
